The GSF team returned from a successful mission in Beirut, Lebanon from April 9-18, 2021. Together with GSF-MENA, our volunteers performed cleft surgeries for 26 patients at BMG Hospital.
Four patients returned for cleft palate surgery after having cleft lip repairs in November 2020 and others have been waiting for care during the pandemic. We also provided 15 Speech Therapy sessions and 10 Nutritional Consultations.
We appreciate the support of individual and corporate donors for the Beirut mission, with special thanks to Smile Train for their sponsorship. We are also grateful for the following NGOs for their assistance with patient referrals: UNICEF, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Doctors Without Borders (MSF), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and Talia Foundation.
